Resurrection Body

Rita Myers
1993, 7:03 min, color, sound

Description

Writes Myers, "Resurrection Body is a meditation on the dying, dreaming body... [It] attempts to locate the human body as a site for the expression of destabilized and reconstituted meanings." This tape documents Myer's installation, which involved attaching cardiac and biofeedback sensors to a male performer's body. Depending on the performer's level of activity, these sensors then triggered images of either an electrocardiogram or portraits of the artist's family to appear on fifteen monitors. Resurrection Body is dedicated to the artist's father.

Performer: Anthony Blokdijk. Sound: Dana McCurdy. Online editor: Karen Heyson, Gramercy Broadcast Center through the Standby Program. Produced with the assistance of the World Wide Video Centre.
