In Cosmetic/Not Cosmetic the artist methodically takes apart a vanity case with a power drill while dressed in a satin slip.
The artist uses tape to create a seat on the frame of a lounge chair on a beach. She then sits on it.

Writes Baldino: "Initially inspired by the theories behind 'Fuzzy Logic,' this series reveals that opposites can be the same. Something is what it is and what it is not, simultaneously... All of the work is shot in the first take, without editing."
In these witty performance pieces, Baldino constructs, deconstructs or reconstructs everyday objects to question their meaning and function. The objects simultaneously are and are not the objects indicated by their name. Often Baldino performs the assembly or disassembly of these objects while wearing incongruous costumes or in incongruous contexts. In Cosmetic/Not Cosmetic, for example, she methodically tears apart a vanity case with a power drill while dressed in a satin slip.
